Allerding wins fourth straight cross-country meet Monday

Alta seventh-grader Paul Allerding won his fourth straight middle school cross-country meet Monday afternoon at the Paullina Golf Course, winning the race by more than a minute under his nearest competitor.

Allerding, seventh-grader Brian Pedersen and eighth-grader Jeff Demer quickly opened a lead after the first half-mile, and the trio took home the top three places at the meet.

Allerding won the race in 12:12, Pedersen finished second in 13:18 and Demer ended up third with a time of 13:19.

Eighth-grader Russ Hinkeldey finished sixth in 13:42, while seventh-grader Tyler Boyd ran a strong race to cross the tape in 10th place in 14:55.

Seventh-grader Alan Hinkeldey finished 11th in 14:58 and seventh-grader Adam Holton wound up 12th in 15:01.

The middle school girls also ran well in the field of 40 runners, as seventh-grader Deidre Hinkeldey led the Cyclones by finishing 18th in 15:49.

Seventh-grader Jahde Hammer was 19th in 15:58, with seventh-grader Brianna Aube, seventh-grader Amanda Meyer, eighth-grader Elissa Stevens and seventh-grader Heather Nehring all delivered strong races for the young Cyclone squad.
