FENTON - Kellen Madison rushed for 204 yards on 38 carries and scored four touchdowns as Sentral of Fenton all but locked up an eight-man playoff berth with a 40-35 victory over Aurelia last Friday night at Fenton.
Aurelia, which slipped to 6-1 overall, can receive the at-large playoff berth with a win over Whiting this Friday night. They lead the point system used to determine the at-large team.
Sentral jumped out to a 6-0 lead when Madison scored on an 11-yard run. Sentral made it 12-0 on a 2-yard run by Nerem.
Aurelia got on the scoreboard when Kasey Reilly tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Brent Kai.
Madison then scored on another 11-yard run to make it 20-8. Reilly scampered 44 yards for an Aurelia touchdown to pull within 20-16, but Docken ripped off a 42-yard run to give Sentral a 26-16 halftime lead.
Aurelia trimmed the deficit to 26-22 on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Reilly to Heath Brecher. Madison then scored from 1 yard out before Reilly's 15-yard touchdown pass to Eric Sonksen made it a 34-29 game.
Madison then ran 37 yards for a touchdown with 8:38 remaining in the game to give Sentral a 40-29 lead. Aurelia cut it to 40-35 with 7:56 left on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Reilly to Kai.
Sentral ran out the clock after risking a faked punt on their own 18-yard line and converting it for a first down.
Sentral finished with 340 yards rushing and 405 yards in total offense in the game. Aurelia had 209 yards rushing and 346 in total offense.
Reilly completed 7 of 15 passes for 137 yards and four touchdowns. Brecher rushed for 100 yards on 11 carries, while Reilly had 70 yards on 13 carries. Kai caught five passes for 97 yards.
Reilly and T.J. Schaefer led Aurelia on defense with 17 tackles apiece. Sonksen had 14 and Brecher 12.
