Walking Program to start October 15

With the change in the season, Comm"UNITY" Education would like to remind everyone that the Walking Program at the Storm Lake High School and Storm Lake Middle School will begin on October 15.

Walking is allowed on school days. Middle School hours are 6:30-7:15 a.m., before the start of the school day and then again after school from 4-6 p.m.

The High School is open for walkers from 3:45-4:45 p.m. only. Please sign-in upon arrival.

EMT-I Class to begin October 10 at Iowa Central CC

A 10-week Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate class will begin Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Iowa Central Community College in Storm Lake.

The course will be held every Tuesday night and on three Saturdays for six hours at a time to be established during the first class.

Cost for the course is $391.13 plus $88.25 for books. CPR is required and costs $25.

EMT-B certification is required for admittance into the EMT-I class. Course topics include: additional training in patient assessment, intravenous therapy, advanced airway management and automated defibrillation (AED).

The class consists of 54 lecture/lab hours, 23 clinical hours and 23 field hours.
