Arts on Grand, together with Carey's TV and Stereo, is excited to announce the return of their collaborative Foreign Film series titled "Films for the Cinematically Disadvantaged."
The line up of movies for the fall series include: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears; Vatel; and Dr. Strangelove. Movies will be shown on Mondays in October at 7:00 p.m. at Carey's TV & Stereo located at 220 Grand Avenue in Spencer beginning on October 8 with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
The movie tells the story of two women, both capable fighters, whose fates intertwine during the Ching Dynasty. One of them tries passionately to break free from the constraint society has placed upon her, even if it means giving up her aristocratic privileges for a life of crime and passion. The other, in her lifelong pursuit of justice and honor, only too late discovers the consequences of unfulfilled love. Their two destinies will lead them to a violent and astonishing showdown, in which each will make a surprising, climatic choice. Admission is free, however donations are welcome at the door.
