The Sac County Conservation Board is hosting their annual Halloween Night Hike on October 20th and 21st at Hagge Park, south of Sac City.
Come and join such characters as Barney, Mister Rogers, the Rugrats and Blues Clues to learn more about the environment. The program is not designed to be scary, but fun and educational for the whole family. The night stalkers (group leaders) will begin taking groups of approximately 30 people through the luminated trails at 6:00 p.m. continuing every 10 minutes through 9:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday evening. Each hike will last approximately one hour. Roasted marshmallows, pop-corn and hot chocolate will be served in the shelter house following the hike. Reservations are required, so call (712) 662-4530, 8:00 a.m-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday to reserve a time. There will be a fee of one dollar per person regardless of age.
A pumpkin carving contest will be held Friday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hagge Park shop. Bring your own pumpkin that will be entered, your carving tools and show us your artistic abilities. Prizes will be awarded and some of the winners will be displayed in the shelter house, while others will help luminate the trails. They are in need of some nice size pumpkins if you have any extras! Should you have any questions, or would like to attend, please call (712) 662-4530.
