Funeral Services for Frank V. Crapser, 87, of Ottumwa, formerly of Aurelia, will be Monday, October 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Aurelia, with Lay Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. Military Honors will be conducted by the Grashoff-McManus American Legion Post #390 of Aurelia. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Frank died Friday, September 28, on his 87th birthday at the Veterans Home in Knoxville, Iowa.
Frank Vernon Crapser was born September 28, 1914, the son of Bruce and Eva (Weidman) Crapser, in Cherokee. Frank married Lois Arlend Nelson on April 25, 1939 in South Dakota. He entered the US Army on September 22, 1944, and was honorably discharged on October 15, 1945. The couple made their home in Aurelia and in Jordan, Minn., where Frank was a truck driver for the Yellow Freight Company until his retirement. He loved to spend time with his family taking a small travel trailer to visit them, he also enjoyed fishing.
Preceding Frank in death were his parents, his wife Lois on July 1, 1993, three sisters, Geraldine, Bernadine, and Alfleda, and two infant great-grandsons.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy Molgaard and her husband Gary of Alta, two sons; Frank M. (Mike) and his wife Nancy Crapser of Ottumwa, and David Crapser of Jordan, Minn., ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mary Jane Hatterman and her husband Eldon of Cherokee, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
