Radke gets career win No. 100 in 56-12 romp
AURELIA - Myron Radke won his 100th career game as a head football coach - and was it ever in a convincing way.
Radke's Aurelia team, ranked third in eight-man football, scored 29 first-half points on its way to a 56-12 romp over Harris-Lake Park on Friday.
Aurelia began the game with a Heath Brecher interception. Moments later, quarterback Kasey Reilly threw a 2-yard TD pass to Bill Weathers for a 6-0 lead. The extra point failed.
Harris-Lake Park tied the score at 6-6 wirth a 5-yard TD run by Bradley Graham.
Aurelia took control in the second quarter with three touchdowns. Brecher scored from 1 yard out and a two-point conversion pass from Reilly to Weathers gave the Bulldogs a 14-6 lead.
Weathers then caught a 9-yard TD pass from Reilly with 3:15 left before halftime. Reilly's extra point made it 21-6. Brent Kai caught a 27-yard touchdown pass just before halftime to make it a 29-6 game.
"We cannot play the first half like we played against the rest of our schedule or we're going to go down," Radke said. "We just have to play the first half."
Brad Kempfert caught a 66-yard TD pass from Reilly to open the scoring in the second half. Reilly then scampered 41 yards for a score and John Ireland added a 3-yard touchdown run. Chad Husman made it 56-12 with a 37-yard TD scamper.
Husman led the Bulldogs with 76 yards rushing. Brecher added 60. Reilly completed 7 of 11 passes for 167 yards and four touchdowns.
Defensively, Ireland led the way with 13 tackles. Brecher added 10, while Matt Gustafson, Matt Sangwin and Eric Sonksen all had nine apiece.
