Storm Lake High School is gearing up for Homecoming 2001 events over the next week, with float building starting Monday.
Tuesday will be "Crazy Day," with class competitions at 8:15 a.m., and a powder puff football game at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $1 or a donated box of Kleenex.
Wednesday is "Farmer Hick Day." The students will vote for Homecoming King and Queen. Sale of Homecoming buttons start at the high school, middle school and elementaries. Classes will compete in a tug-of-war and bath tub races starting at 2:30 p.m. A car smash event will take place in the parking lot from 7-9 p.m.
Thursday is "Halloween Day," with more class competitions. The Coronation ceremony will take place in the gym at 7:30 p.m., and the public is invited. The cheerleaders will sponsor a pep rally starting at 8 p.m.
Homecoming culminates Friday, with the theme, "We've got a Beef with the Chief."
Cheerleaders and football players will visit the elementary schools. A pep rally will be held at the middle school at 1:15. Classes dismiss at 1:30, with the Homecoming Parade at 2:30 downtown. Face-painting will be offered by the Art Club during the first half of the game, and Homecoming royalty will be announced at half-time.
Storm Lake battles the Cherokee Braves beginning at 7:30 p.m., with a Booster tailgate party at 6 p.m. The homecoming dance will take place in the gym from 9:45 p.m.-12:30 a.m.
