Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Galva September 15 for Harold Jacobson. Arrangements are by Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Schaller.
Harold Jacobsen of Sac City, formerly of Galva, was born September 15, 1912 in Ida County, near Galva, the son of Jon and Gunda (Petersen) Jacobsen. He was baptized in the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Galva on September 24, 1916.
At the age of seven, Harold and his parents went back to Norway, the country of his parent's birth. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Alvaldner, Norway at the age of 15. He also received his education in Norway, and at the age of 16 returned to Galva.
On March 19, 1944 Harold was united in marriage to Evelyn Anderson at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. This marriage was blessed with adopted twin daughters, Denise and Diane, at the age of seven weeks.
Harold and Evelyn farmed in the Galva, Schaller and Early years, moving into Galva in 1970 and later to the Loring Care Center in Sac City. Harold worked 16 years for Consolidated Popcorn in Schaller before retiring. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Galva.
Survivors include his two daughters, Denise Jacobsen and Diane (Dave) Monetle of Omaha, and three grandsons. Other survivors include three sisters-in-law, Lela Joslin of Holstein, Florence Lusk of Austin, Texas and Genevieve-Mrs. Murelle Green of St. Petersburg, Florida; and foster daughter, Lori Watts of Lawton.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Evelyn on October 11, 1997 one brother and four sisters.
