Student teaching program to be offered

Three Storm Lake students are among 13 students participating in the student teaching program this fall at Buena Vista University.

Sherri Fitzpatrick, of 406 Michigan Street, is a senior, majoring in elementary education at BVU; Katie Hausman, of 505 Russell Storm Lake, is a senior majoring in elementary education; and Kelly Herrig, daughter of Terry and Cindy Herrig, 532 Oates Street, is a senior, majoring in business education.

Fitzpatrick is student teaching kindergarten through fourth grade under Jahn Wiegand at West Elementary School in Storm Lake and first grade under Barb Seiler at South Elementary School in Storm Lake, Hausman is teaching kindergarten under Deb Mortennsen and pre-kindergarten under Connie Skibsted at South Elementary School in Storm Lake and fourth grade under Carol Huntzicker at East Elementary School in Storm Lake; and Herrig teaching business education under Jeff Dicks at Newell-Fonda High School and business education under Julie Schultze at Storm Lake High School.

Faculty supervisors for the BVU student teaching program are Ann Withrow, assistant professor of education; Dr. Robbie Ludy, professor of special education; and Brian Van Haaften, instructor of education at BVU.
