The Alta School Board met in a special session Monday morning to approve bills and discuss the upcoming meeting Sept. 18 concerning the open campus issue.
The Tuesday meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the Alta High School library/media center, and is open to parents, students and concerned members of the city.
Superintendent Fred Maharry said he has heard nothing but positives from members of the public on how the board has handled the matter so far.
"The feedback I've received from the community has been positive," Maharry said. "I've had people tell me they're glad we're taking a serious look at this issue."
The board also discussed a concern raised by citizens that several school activities and practices were being held on both Thursday and Sunday, days generally set aside for church-sponsored activities.
Members voted to review the policies already in place and then make a decision on the issue next week based on those findings.
The next regular school board meeting will take place Monday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. in the Alta High School office.
Members of the public are welcome to attend.
