Small bomb detonated Saturday

Storm Lake police reported that a homemade explosive device was detonated on a Storm Lake street Saturday evening.

Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the corner of East 2nd and Cayuga Street to respond to an explosion at 10:45 p.m.

Responding Officers were advised that a plastic item was smoking in the middle of the street.

Police located the remains of a household explosive device often referred to as a "McGiver Bomb" after a television show some years ago.

Witnesses reportedly saw four to five high school aged white males walking away from the scene.

Police investigators processed the scene and collected evidence at the scene.

No arrests had been reported as of Monday evening.

The Storm Lake Police Department is asking anyone with information on who may have detonated the device to contact the Police Department immediately at 732-8010.

No injuries or property damage was reported in the explosion Saturday.
