STORM LAKE - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its 42 finalists for the 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and Buena Vista junior guard Margo Muhlbauer (Manilla, Iowa/IKM) is among the list.
The 42 finalists, who are voted upon by WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions, are now in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
Muhlbauer is one of two Iowa Conference players among the list with Simpson's Carrie Larson being the other.
Already named a First Team All-Conference performer for the third straight season, as well as Jostens Trophy finalist, she led both the team and league in scoring by averaging 19.5 points per game this season. She also hauled in a team-best 5.3 rebounds, while turning in 54 steals. She finished the year shooting a league and career-high 90.1 percent from the free-throw line, while ending the season making 32 straight and 41 of her last 42. She turned in a league-high 31 points during an IIAC Tournament quarterfinal win against Luther and scored at least 20 points 14 times.
