Cecil Boeckman, age 91, of Early, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 at Park View Care Center in Sac City. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early on Monday, March 9, 2009. Burial followed the Mass at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Early.
Cecil was born to parents Ben and Mary (Wessling) Boeckman on Nov. 27, 1917, in Breda. He was baptized at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Breda and attended St. Bernard's Catholic School.
On Oct. 9, 1940, Cecil was united in marriage to Louise (Eischeid) at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. Cecil and Louise made their home near Early, where they were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Cecil worked hard to provide a great life for his family as a farmer, and then a blacksmith before retiring in 1985. He also served as a volunteer fireman for many years. Always a handyman, he could fix almost anything. Cecil loved gardening, dancing with Louise, and especially his grandkids. He was always there to lend a helping hand, whether at church, at home, in the community, or with his grandkids. Cecil was also legendary as he was one of the first Farmall Tractor Promenade dancers in the 1950's. His generous heart will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Karen Blass and husband Doug of Early and Kris Blaha and husband David of Boone; five grandchildren: Jodi Kuehl and husband Chad, Scott Blaha, Matt Blaha, Cari (fiance Justin Wieck) Blass, Andrea Blass; and great-granddaughter: Kaylee Kuehl. Other survivors include his sisters: Lucille Steinkamp of Brighton, Colo., Fern Schaefer of Carroll; sisters-in-law: Florence Gephart of Carroll, Irma Fast of Windom, Minn., Marie Schreck of Carroll, Mary Eischeid of Spencer, Irene Eischeid of Halbur, and Darlene (Don) Riesberg of Halbur, Jeannette Eischeid of Carroll; and many extended family members and friends.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Louise; parents: Ben and Mary; parents-in-law: Theo and Anna Eischeid; sister: Charlotte (Harold) Prescott; sisters-in-law: Lorine (Frank) Sextro, and Tilly (John) Busenbark; brothers-in-law: Leonard Eischeid, Hilbert (Agnes) Eischeid, Ted Eischeid, Louis Eischeid, Alvin Eischeid, Norville Steinkamp; Cato Gephart, Elmer Schreck, and Gale Schaefer.
Vern Oziah, of O'Fallon, Mo., died on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the age of 59. Dearest husband of Leslee Oziah; dear son of the late Minor and Fern Oziah; devoted father of Tracey (Rod) Brooks, Michelle (Dave) Bowman, Joel (Adrienne) Oziah and Jeremy (Jessica) Oziah; beloved grandfather of Samantha Bowman, Kinzi Brooks, Jaland Bowman, JoLee Bowman, Ian Brooks, Paige Oziah and Baby Oziah on the way.
Vern was in Production Management for the Midwest Region with Monsanto/DeKalb. He enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing; was a member of Elks Lodge, O'Fallon, WRCSO Remington and Sunrise United Methodist Church O'Fallon.
The family is being served by The Baue Funeral and Memorial Center, 3950 West Clay Street, St. Charles, MO where visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009, from 5-7 p.m.. Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center Chapel. Interment will take place in Remington Cemetery, in Remington, Ind. Una Mae Strader, age 84, of Storm Lake, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at her home.
Services for Mrs. Strader will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
