A LeMars man has been convicted for illegally dealing more than 500 weapons and money laundering the proceeds. Nine of the guns he moved, with no background checks and across state lines, have been found at crime scenes so far.
Chester Douglas Pullen is 79 years old. He faces a maximum sentence of 35 years in prison plus 11 years of supervised release and fines of up to half a million dollars - he would have to live to age 125 to fulfill such a sentence.
Pulled earned more the $233,000 and bought a lake home and two cars with his gains, and was twice warned to stop illegal gun sales. According to court information, each time he promised to stop, but continued the activity. Search warrants last June resulted in 99 weapons being seized.
