SIOUX RAPIDS - Both Sioux Central and Pocahontas came out relatively slow Saturday night, scoring a combined 12 points in the first quarter, but it was the Rebel girls who took over from there. Sioux Central would score 18 in the second, and 27 in the fourth, as they put away Pocahontas in their regional opener, 65-36.
Brooke Scharn led a trio of Sioux Central players in double figures, scoring 19 points to go with 17 rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Grace Rehnstrom went 4-8 from deep on her way to a 17-point night, and Morgan Walker was a perfect 6-6 from the field and 5-6 from the foul line on her way to 17 points and five boards.
The Rebels (13-8) were 23-49 ( 47%) from the field as a whole. The Sioux Central girls now prepare for Okoboji (16-4) who rolled Emmetsburg 67-30 Saturday night. Tip-off is at 7PM tonight in Sioux Rapids.
