SM Ball is 'On the Fritz'

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Tickets are now available for St. Mary's 2009 Ball and Charity Auction's ancient Egyptian event - Journey Along the Nile - held Saturday, March 21 at the Buena Vista University Siebens Forum Dows Grand Ballroom.

Performing will be the well-known Omaha band "on the Fritz" featuring twin brother guitarists Stan and Wayne Fritz. The band has been making over 100 appearances touring the midwest each year for 27 years. Their classic rock repertoire spans hundreds of songs, from The Beatles and Pink Floyd, to Weezer and The Killers.

Tickets are $60 per person minimum contribution and include a multicourse meal, beer and wine courtesy of Central Bank, live and silent auction bidding, and dancing.

Those who purchased ball and auction tickets early have the chance to win a trip to the Las Vegas Luxor resort. Donors must be present to win.

The Luxor trip is sponsored by the St. Mary's Alumni Association, St. Mary's Guild and the Storm Lake Knights of Columbus Council.

Contributions of $100 or more per person gives attendees admittance to the Fratzke-Jensen Pyramid Preview Party, which begins at 5:15 p.m. The preview event offers an open bar, hot appetizers and a chance for participants to win $400 in cash door prizes courtesy of Malarky's.

New this year is the opportunity to purchase tickets on-line. Log on at www.stormlakecatholic.com and click on the Donate link at the lower left hand side of the home page. Be sure to indicate your contribution is for St. Mary's Ball. Tickets will be sold until March 13 or all seats are sold.

The ball and auction feature a social hour for bidding on silent auction items, purchasing Paxtons' Chest of Chance bags and appetizers and beverages. The Live Auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. with local auctioneer and St. Mary's Parishioner Kevin Cone. At the end of the auction, the winners of the $10,000, two $1,000 and two $500 Big Raffle tickets will be drawn as well as the Early Bird $2,000 winner. After the drawings, bidders will pay for their items and then enjoy dancing to "On the Fritz." Raffle ticket holders do not have to be present to win.

Chairs for the event are John and Edean Murray with Dan and Amy Jones serving as co-chairs.
