The Buena Vista County Community Foundation announced that they are seeking grant applications for their Spring 2009 grant program.
The Buena Vista County Community Foundation is a not-for-profit Foundation that seeks to enhance the quality of life in Buena Vista County by awarding cash grants to other not-for-profit agencies and units of government within the county.
In the past the foundation has been instrumental in developing partnerships with government and agencies in BV County to construct projects such as: A public restroom in Linn Grove - Heating and Air Conditioning for the Sioux Rapids Library
Handicapped access to the City of Marathon City Hall & Library - Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce - Habitat for Humanity - Newell Children's Center and 38 other organizations with grants of $143,487.65.
Grant applications for this Spring Grant Program are due by March 20, 2009.

"In these tough economic times we know that the agencies and governments that serve our communities every day face unique struggles as well. Because of those struggles we encourage these agencies to apply for funding through the foundation so that we can try and be of assistance to them and the citizens they serve," commented Willis Strawn, BV County Community Foundation Chair.
Funding for the Buena Vista County Community Foundation is provided through awards from the State of Iowa and through private donations.
Persons interested in leaving a lasting legacy within Buena Vista County by establishing a grant program can partner with the Buena Vista County Foundation. In these partnerships the BV County Community Foundation can assist the donor in handling the administration of grant funds with the donors set of guidelines.
To promote understanding of the grant application process there will be a training and informational meeting on Feb. 26 at 6:00 PM at the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce Office 119 W 6th St Storm Lake.
