ALTA - They've already spent their high school football careers beating up on one another in the trenches, what's another four years going to hurt?
Alta lineman Andrew Allerdings and Jake Syndergaard both announced that they will continue their athletic and academic careers at Morningside College in Sioux City next fall.
The duo anchored the Cyclones' offensive and defensive lines as they finished the 2008 season with a 9-3 record and made run deep into the playoffs before falling to eventual state champion Southern Cal in the semifinals.
Allerdings received first-team All-State honors for his efforts on an offensive line that produced one of Class A's most explosive running games. Syndergaard earned second-team recognition as a defensive end, where he notched 77 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception returned for a score.
Multi-sport athletes, Allerdings is currently averaging three points and three rebounds for the Alta basketball team finished third in the Northwest Conference this season. Syndergaard, also a reserve on the basketball team, just qualified for Saturday's district wrestling meet in the heavyweight division.
