Prairie Heritage Center hosts 'Salute to Sonbirds' exhibit

Thursday, February 12, 2009

As the calendar pages turn toward spring, many people begin to think about the return of the songbirds which inspire our lives with their color and song. Get a jump-start on spring at the Prairie Heritage Center near Peterson.

The Center will be home to a traveling exhibit - "Salute to Songbirds" Feb. 12 through April 22. This extensive display covers over 1000 square feet of space and includes components such as a Chest of Nests, Feather Magic, Song and Dance, and a Songbird Café. Literally climb into a GIGANTIC nest! Follow migration routes along a carpet size map. Pick up tips on birdfeeding and birdhouses, and more.

This exhibit was developed by the Effie Yeaw Nature Center in California.

The Prairie Heritage Center's hours are Wed-Fri. from 9-4, weekends 1-4. As a kick-off for this special display, a Bird Day Festival will be held at the Center on Saturday, Feb. 21, 1-4, with games, crafts and more for the whole family!
