IDA GROVE - Authorities have announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the death of an Ida Grove woman who disappeared 12 years ago.

Ida County Sheriff Wade Harriman says that Connie Ruddy disappeared on Feb. 10, 1997. Her jawbone was found by a fossil hunter along the Boyer River 2 1/2 years later.

Harriman says investigators searched along the river and the surrounding area but found no other remains.

He says Ruddy was 21 years old when she disappeared and had two small children at home.

Harriman announced the $5,000 reward during a news conference on Tuesday.
