SLMS Jazz Band number 1

The Storm Lake Middle School Jazz Band placed first in Class 3A/4A at the NW Iowa Bandmasters District Jazz Band Festival held in Sioux City Tuesday, Feb. 3. Several students were honored for receiving outstanding soloist awards. They were Chyann Smith- alto sax, Grace Freking- tenor sax, Max Lalone- bari sax, Jesse Luedtke- trombone, Jay Grant- trumpet, and Geoff Converse- piano. This is the third consecutive year the jazz band has placed first at the district festival. The band is under the direction Holli Safley, middle school instrumental music instructor.
