Cyclones to send four to districts

SIOUX RAPIDS - The Alta Cyclones' wrestling team took a fourth place overall finish at the regional meet in Sioux Rapids Saturday, and they were able to advance four competitors on to this Saturday's district qualifiers.

Graettinger-Terril took top honors Saturday, totaling 206 points. The Knights had five wrestlers crowned champion and another two earn runner-up honors.

Woodburry Central took second place with 175 points, Lawton-Bronson was third with 158, and Alta finished fourth at 149.

The Cyclones' Josh Kristensen (15-3 at 119) and Matt Sefcik (32-8 at 215) each took first place in the meet while Josh Sager (25-9 at 112) and Jake Syndergaard (16-6 at 285) also qualified for districts as they earned runner-up honors.

Just Marcus Alafa (130) and Schuyler Radke (152) just missed out on qualifying with third place finishes.

The four remaining Cyclones and the other Sioux Central qualifiers travel to Sioux Center this Saturday as they will face off with the qualifiers from the Central Lyon, Rock Rapids sectional meet.

Matches are set to begin at 12PM.
