SL swimmers finish 7th at districts

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

FORT DODGE - The Storm Lake boys' swim team took part in district meet action in Fort Dodge Saturday and finished seventh overall.

State powerhouse Ames stole the show, far and away earning first place with 399 total points. Second place Carroll only managed 175. The Little Cyclones have spent nearly the entire season in the top three ranked in the top three.

Storm Lake earned 29 points on the afternoon as the foursome of Peter Winterton, Michael Rodgers, Casey Schultz, and Evan Stevenson picked up 14 points for seventh place finishes in both the 200 and 400 free relays. Winterton also earned a point for his 1:14.83 finish in the 100 meter breast stroke.

The Tornadoes failed to qualify any individuals for the state meet this year, thus ending the 2008-2009 season.
