SIOUX RAPIDS - An ice cold shooting night did in the Sioux Central Rebels Tuesday as they made just 13 of 49 (27%) field goal attempts in their loss to Emmetsburg Tuesday night.
The Rebels 37-point showing is their lowest of the season fueled by a 2 of 17 night from long range and 9 of 20 at the foul line. Sioux Central was actually tied at the end of the first half, 24-24, but could only manage 13 points the rest of the way.
Stuart Goslinga got his usual double-double, scoring 14 to go with 16 rebounds, and Adam Ehlers added 13 and six boards, but the Rebels couldn't muster more than three points from any other player as they fell to 13-3 on the year. Their 10-2 conference record leaves them a game behind Laurens-Marathon. To earn a share of the conference crown, Sioux Central would need Alta to knock off the Chargers Friday night.
Having wrapped up the conference portion of their schedule, the Rebels finish up the regular season with a flurry of non-conference action. They host South O'Brien tonight, they host Rockwell-City Lytton Monday, they travel to Twin River Valley Tuesday, they host Pocahontas Thursday and then finish up on the road against Clay Central-Everly.
Sioux Central's quest towards a state berth begins at home Monday, February 16th when they host Spirit Lake. The two squads have not met in the regular season.
