STORM LAKE - The Sioux Central girls' basketball team turned in a dominant performance in Storm Lake Tuesday night, using a 21 to four first quarter to set the tone for their eventual 67-20 victory.
The Rebels held the Panthers to single-digit scoring in all four quarters while turning in their second highest scoring effort of the season.
Sioux Central led 39-10 at the half and 58-13 after three quarters before easing off the gas en route to the win.
The girls now stand at 11-6 overall and 8-2 in the Northwest Conference, good enough for second best after Newell-Fonda.
Brooke Scharn led the Rebels in the win, collecting 26 points on 11 of 18 shooting. Scharn added a team high 14 rebounds and four assists.
The junior is currently second in the conference in scoring and fourth in rebounding (19.2 ppg, 8.8 rpg).
Brianna Ehlers was also in double figures for Sioux Central, finishing with 13 points and five rebounds. Grace Rehnstrom added four points, six rebounds, and four steals.
Ten different Rebel girls scored in the game as they shot an impressive 29 of 52 (56%) from the field Tuesday night.
Jen Dimig led the Panthers with 10 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.
The St. Mary's girls remain winless on the season at 0-14 and 0-9 in conference play.
The Panthers are back in action Friday night when they host Aurelia.
The Panthers' 33-37 loss to the Bulldogs this past Saturday was their smallest margin of defeat all season.
The Rebels are also in action Friday night then they travel to Laurens to take on the Chargers.
Both games are set to tip-off at 6:30PM.
