STORM LAKE - The Storm Lake boy's basketball team remains winless at home this season as they fell to Emmetsburg Tuesday night, 64-46.
The Tornadoes (1-10, 0-7 in the Lakes Conf) have now dropped eight in a row dating back to their December 5th overtime win in Emmetsburg. Storm Lake started both halves slowly, but used huge second and fourth quarters to propel themselves to the win.
That wasn't the case Tuesday night as a six point deficit after the first quarter grew to seventeen at half. The E-Hawks only outscored Storm Lake by one in the second half, but the damage was done.
"We were out of sync the entire game," said Storm Lake head coach Bob Grant. "We tried hard, but we could not stop their inside game."
Emmetsburg was led by their 6'8" center, Nick Wuebker. The sophomore totaled a game-high 18 points, as he dominated the paint against SL. Senior power forward Trevor Dettmann helped him down low with 12, and Langston Jones finished up with 15.
The Tornadoes were led by JB Tut who totaled 13 points in the game, the most he's tallied since the season opener against Sioux City North. Carson Anderson chipped in with 10 points and a team-high six rebounds. Tut finished with five boards.
The quest for win number two gets no easier for the Storm Lake boys as they host Hull Western Christian (11-0, #1 in Class 2A) Friday night and then face a Spencer team (7-4) that's reeled off three straight wins. Tip-off Friday is set for 8PM, and tip-off Saturday is set for 7PM.
