DES MOINES - A northwest Iowa police chief accused of selling stolen hogs will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to theft.
David Johannsen, of Sutherland, was arrested last July.
The O'Brien County clerk of court office says Johannsen pleaded guilty to third-degree theft in December. Sentencing is set for Feb. 9.
Court documents show that Johannsen was accused of selling hogs belonging to Liberty Products, where he worked, to Lynch Livestock in Primghar from 2004 to 2006.
The records say he and two co-workers divided the money, which totaled over $7,000.
One of the two co-workers, Erin Anderson, of Paullina, also is charged.
Sutherland Mayor Carolyn Rohrbaugh (RAW'-barh) says Johannsen is on unpaid leave.
