STORM LAKE - The fifth ranked Buena Vista men's basketball team (14-1, 6-0 IIAC) picked up its 11th straight win against the Loras College Duhawks (10-6, 5-2 IIAC) Saturday afternoon, 86-75. The Beavers shot 59.3 percent from the field in the second half.
Senior Brian Fogleman led four Beavers in double figures with a season high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Fogleman was followed by Matt Cleveland contributing 17 points and five rebounds. Andre Wagner and Travis Person chipped in with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Wagner also dished out a game high eight assists. Defensively Nathan Parker had a team high with seven rebounds.
Loras had control most of the first half, building their biggest lead of six midway through. The Beavers tied the game at the seven minute mark before closing their 21-7 run with a Fogleman jumper to gain an eight point lead at half.
BVU kept the momentum in the second half as they built their biggest lead of the game of 14 points with just under eight minutes to play.
The Duhawks were able to chip away as close to two points with just over two minutes to play, but the Beavers were defensively sound only allowing the Duhawks to score one basket the rest of the game.
The Beavers shot 30-of-54 from the field ending in a 55.6 percent shooting. The Duhawks were led by Brian Centella with 20 points. Centella was followed up by teammate Jake Oeth with 17 points nine rebounds. The Duhawks had three players in double digit scoring.
The BVU men have a busy week as they traveled to Wartburg Monday before hosting Luther Wednesday and Simpson Saturday. All three games scheduled to start at 8PM.
