Rebel girls have firm grasp on second in NW Conf.

AURELIA - The Sioux Central girls basketball team breezed past Aurelia 61-24 Friday night. The win moves the Rebels to 9-4 and 6-1 in conference play as they have a firm grasp of second place in the NW Conference behind Newell-Fonda.

Grace Rehnstrom turned in 21 points including five three-pointers to lead Sioux Central.

Rebel junior point guardBrooke Scharn added 18 points and eight rebounds as the Rebels dominated the glass, 30-18.

Sioux Central forced Aurelia into 25 turnovers, compared to just four of their own, as they raced out to a 17-4 first quarter lead and a 30-8 halftime advantage.

Meghan Glawe led the Bulldogs with 10 points, five rebounds, and three blocks. Erin Laursen turned in three points and seven rebounds as Aurelia fell to 0-10 on the season and 0-5 in the NW Conference.

The Bulldogs are back on the court tonight when they host Laurens-Marathon (3-6, 1-4 in NW Conf.) Meanwhile, the Rebels host the conference leading #2 Newell-Fonda Mustangs(10-1, 6-0). in a battle for the lead of the NW Conference. Both games are set to tip-off at 6:30PM.
