CARROLL - The Storm Lake wrestling team wrapped up what has been a very hectic week with a 3-2 record at the Kuemper duals in Carrol Saturday. Storm Lake picked up wins over Kuemper (46-33), Underwood (51-24), and Missouri Valley (45-35), and fell to Guthrie Center (23-51) and Ogden (22-52).
"Our main focus for the day was to bring our intensity level in matches up, stay focused, and be the aggressor," said Storm Lake head coach Ty Seaman. "As the day went, that improved. I think we were wrestling our best in the last two duals."
Leading the Tornadoes Saturday were Ben Seaman and Tony Pertzborn who each collected wins in four of the five duals. Gabrial Torres and Patrick Higgins finished with three wins each.
"This has been a tough stretch for us," said Seaman. "We have kids that have wrestled 14 matches in the last eight days. and that is tough. I really think that we made some progress today and we plan to keep working hard and improving the next three weeks leading into the district tourney."
Storm Lake will look to continue their late season growth Thursday night when they meet Spirit Lake and Emmetsburg in Emmetsburg. Matches begin at 6PM.
