ALTA - The Alta and Sioux Central girls were neck and neck in the first half as Alta entered the break trailing 22-18, but the Rebel girls were able to outscore the Cyclones by ten in the second half despite a 5 of 19 night at the free throw line.
Brooke Scharn turned another impressive outing with 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Rebel girls. Grace Rehnstrom chipped in with ten and Morgan Walker added eight as they remain just one game back of Newell-Fonda atop the Northwest Conference standings at (8-4, 5-1 in NW Conf.)
The Cyclones (4-6, 4-3) drop to fourth in the conference behind Schaller-Crestland.
Jordan Henningsen led Alta with 16 points and three assists. Emily Grieme added 12 points, five rebounds, and a pair of steals, and Bridget Murrillo pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
The Rebels only outrebounded Alta 30-25, but they shot 41% (21-51) from the field to Alta's 31% (13-42) and committed just five turnovers while forcing 21 by the Cyclones.
The Alta girls will look to bounce back and move into a tie for third place in the conference when they travel to take on Schaller-Crestland Friday night. Sioux Central is also on the road Friday night when they head to Aurelia to meet the Bulldogs. Both games are set to tip off at 6:30PM.
