University Extension offers help managing finances in times of economic crisis

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Iowans are becoming increasingly concerned about losing retirement funds, investments, jobs and even the roof over their heads. Now they have another resource to turn to -- eXtension.org, a multi-university research-based Web site.

University experts from across the United States compiled free, easy-to-access financial management information on eXtension.org. These experts address questions facing Americans during the current economic distress and encourage consumers to take charge of their financial situations.

Consumers can find tools to help them cope with stress, practice positive spending habits, manage their debt and stretch their dollar, Duncan said. They also can ask specific questions as well as post comments about articles and resources on the Web site. The eXtension financial crisis information, found at http://www.extension.org/financial_crisi..., is organized into five areas: business, family, farm and ranch, individual and youth. The reports and articles reflect the "best of the best" information from university experts on financial matters today.
