LETTER TO THE EDITOR - Volunteer for CASA... for life

Monday, January 12, 2009

If, like me, you have become intrigued with the recent reports about training your brain, you may be considering engaging in a new activity in 2009.

For instance, you might be planning to get more exercise, eat healthier foods, play brain-stimulating games or take a community education class to improve your brain health. Another proven method of brain training is volunteering for a worthwhile cause. If volunteering is your chosen method, please consider becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate, a CASA volunteer. CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers who advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children under the protection of the juvenile court. The CASA volunteer experience is both challenging and rewarding.

Studies have shown that people live longer because they volunteer. If you have a genuine interest in the welfare of children and are looking for a unique volunteer opportunity, please contact the Buena Vista, Cherokee, Crawford and Ida County CASA office. There are children in these counties who need your help.
