Beaver wrestlers off to take-down national duals tournament

Monday, January 12, 2009

CEDAR FALLS - The BVU Wrestling team is off to continue their season at the National Duals hosted by University of Northern Iowa. In the first dual the Beavers are set to wrestle the second seed, Augsburg College.

The Auggies last competed at the Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Classic in South Dakota. They crowned six champions and 18 place winners to claim victory at the Blue Hawk Classic.

The Beavers try to improve from an 8th place showing in the Cornell College Matman Invitational. Senior Brian Stueve recorded a pair of pins and a major decision en route to the lone individual championship for the Buena Vista wrestling team. Followed by teammate, Kody Koster, who turned in a strong performance as well, taking third at 165 pounds. Also, junior 157-pounder, Aaron Cook was able to battle for fifth place in the Matman Invitational.

The match is set to begin at 11 am on Saturday morning in the UNI-Dome.

The next round will begin at 3pm on Saturday and the Beavers are set to grapple either Cornell College or Johnson & Wales
