One Albert City businesswoman says she's gotten some strange looks after she tells them the name of her new cafe - The Twisted Spoon. "But it's catchy, it stays with you," Sharon Evers, of Laurens says. She says the inspiration for the name came after watching people stirring their coffee. "One of these days they're going to twist up their spoon," she says with a chuckle.
Being creative with the name isn't the only thing this gal enjoys - she says she also likes to get creative in the kitchen when she's cooking. "I can cook things the way I like, I can be creative," she says. She says sometimes if she tries a new creation she'll let a "regular" give it a try to see what they think. One tasty treat she created was the Twisted Spoon Cafe Sundae which featured chocolate cake, cherry pie filling, ice cream and hershey's syrup. She says the new dessert went over well. "People were full from the supper but they still managed to eat it," she says. Evers says she just loves to be able to create dishes and present them to her customers and says says she wants to them to enjoy themselves and relax in her cafe and enjoy some good ol' home style cooking.
Evers opened the mainstreet cafe last fall in Albert City after learning of a need for a restaurant in Albert City. She says she can seat up to 100 to 150 people and the cafe can be booked for private parties. She says after 18 years of being in the restaurant industry she loves being able to have her own business.
