Party turns wild, police give chase

When a 911 call came in from 1219 Spooner around 4 a.m. New Year's Day, officers were already approaching the house - a 911 hang up call moments earlier had put them on alert.

Officers found themselves on the scene of an apparant underage drinking party that quickly became a wild scene.

Officers encountered a large crowd, and gave chase on foot as several people tried to flee. Police observed people jumping from windows, some bleeding from a previous fight. Several of the subjects tried to fight with the officers and resisted arrest.

Off duty police officers were recalled in to assist with handling the crowd and the investigation.

Following the investigation police said in a statement that an underage drinking party was being held at the residence when a fight broke out involving visitors and the party got out of control.

Police arrested the following:

* Carlos Maldonado, age 21 of Storm Lake was charged with Interference With Official Acts, Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, and Supplying Alcohol to Minors. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,900.00 cash bond.

* Guillermo Carillo, age 18 of Storm Lake was charged with Interference With Official Acts, Possession of Alcohol, and was wanted by the Fort Dodge Police Department for Failure to Appear reference Purchasing Alcohol Underage. He was booked into the county jail on a $2,046.00 cash bond.

* Francisco Casstillo, age 19 of Storm Lake was charged with Interference With Official Acts, Public Intoxication, and Possession of Alcohol. He was booked into the county jail on a $300.00 cash bond.

* Joel Rodriguez, age 18 of Storm Lake was charged with 3 counts of Assaulting a Police Officer, Interference With Official Acts, Public Intoxication, and Possession of Alcohol. He was booked into the county jail on a $3,900.00 cash bond.

* Robert Rolon, age 18 of Storm Lake was charged with Public Intoxication, Interference With Official Acts, and Possession of Alcohol. He was booked into the county jail on a $300.00 cash bond.

The following were charged with Possession of Alcohol and released pending a court date:

Jose Patida-Maldonado, age 20 of Storm Lake

Julian Mancha, age 20 of Storm Lake

Dolly Vega, age 18 of Storm Lake

Morris Romero, age 18 of Storm Lake

A 17 year old female of Storm Lake

No officers were injured.
