Information sought in Dyno's robbery

Monday, January 5, 2009

The Storm Lake Police Department is asking the community's help in connection with an early morning New Year's Day robbery.

At approximately 5:38 am on Thursday, Jan. 1, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Dyno's Convenience Store located at the intersection of East Lakeshore Drive and Flindt Drive in reference to a robbery.

Upon arrival of police they met with the clerk who told police that two Hispanic males had entered the store and when one retrieved a bottle of beer the clerk told him he could not sell it to him. The subject reportedly attacked the clerk and struck him in the head with the bottle. The second subject stopped the man with the bottle from attacking the clerk further. The suspect then stole some merchandise from the store and fled the scene.

The clerk sustained minor injuries.

The subjects fled the scene in a newer styled grey or silver colored van pulling a trailer and traveled northbound on Flindt Drive.

The suspect who attacked the clerk is identified as a Hispanic male wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, 5'11" to 6' in height and weighing approximately 250 pounds.

Storm Lake Police Investigators are following up on a variety of leads in connection with the robbery and ask anyone with information or who may have seen anything at or near the store early Thursday morning to contact the Storm Lake Police Department at 712-732-8010.
