SPENCER - Police have arrested the owner of a Spencer home that caught fire on charges of arson.
Brenda Heilstedt faces charges of first-degree arson.
Firefighters were called to a Spencer residence around noon on Sunday. Fire Chief Doug Duncan says flames were venting out of the east and south first floor windows and that siding on a neighbor's house to the east was melting and catching fire.
Crews were able to stop the neighboring house from catching fire and contained the blaze in the living room. The house was currently being rented.
Spencer firefighters and the Iowa State Fire Marshal's office think the fire started in the first floor living room of the home.
Fire officials say an investigation is ongoing.
