SL city employees help benefit UDMO

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Employees from the City of Storm Lake donated a variety of can food goods and other nonperishable items to Upper Des Moines to help fill their shelves this holiday season.

This project is one of several ways City Employees are giving back to the community this holiday season.

Employees from the city participated in Salvation Army bell ringing earlier this holiday season and the Storm Lake Police Officers Association collected and donated mittens and hats to those in need through their annual Gloves of Love program.

Employees from all city departments participated in the city food drive by donating over 200 items throughout the month of December.

On Monday representatives of these departments gathered all their items together and delivered them to Upper Des Moines.

"On behalf of all the city employees we are grateful to the citizens of Storm Lake for the support they give us throughout the year and see this as an opportunity for us to give back to the community during the holiday season," commented Miles Riedesel.

The City of Storm Lake would like to take this opportunity to thank the Storm Lake community for their support throughout 2008 and to wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday.
