Lakeside Presbyterian Church Choir to present hymnfest
The Lakeside Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir will present "Savior of the National, Come," an advent/Christmas hymnfest on Sunday, Dec. 21.
The hymnfest includes hymn arrangements by composer Michael Burkhardt, and readings from Dietrich Bonhoeffer's book, "The Mystery of Holy Night."
Worship will begin at 10 a.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 110 E. 3rd in Storm Lake. The public is invited to attend and participate in this inspirational service of joy.
Blue Christmas Service Sunday
Rev. Jerry Oakland, senior pastor of the United Methodist Church, 211 E. 3rd St., will lead a Blue Christmas service at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 21, in the church sanctuary. There will be readings and music and a communion service. All in the community are invited to attend.
"Blue? Yes, blue as in the blues. As in 'I am feeling blue.' Not everyone is up and cheery for the Christmas holidays," reports the United Methodist General Board of Discipleship in Nashville. "Dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or some other disease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human situations make parties and joviality painful for many people in our congregations and communities."
AA meetings held every week
AA Meetings are held every Thursday at noon at St. Mark's Church and every Saturday at 8 p.m. at St. John's (basement).
