Women in Denim returns to Storm Lake Jan. 23-24

The premier event for women in agriculture in northwest Iowa will be held Jan. 23 and 24.

Women in Denim will celebrate its 5th anniversary with inspiration, education and information all offered by talented speakers.

Held at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, Women in Denim begins with a banquet Jan. 23 featuring keynote speaker Kathy Peterson of Alta, Iowa. One of the highest rated presenters in Women in Denim history and a nationally known motivational speaker, Peterson's message is entitled, "Finding Happiness in the Craziness of Life."

In addition to the keynote address, participants are able to choose from a variety of break-out sessions that evening and Jan. 24 on topics including:

* Ag marketing

* Home decorating

* Quick-and-easy healthy eating

* Farm management decisions

* Heirloom gardens

* Trash-to-treasure

* Breast cancer

* The farm bill

* Organic gardening

* Barn quilts, and more

Pre-conference events on the afternoon of Jan. 23 include vendor displays with products available for purchase, health information, blood pressure and blood glucose checks, and yoga/Pilates demonstration.

Special guest speaker for the 5th anniversary Women in Denim conference is Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Karey Claghorn. Claghorn will provide perspective on the ag industry in Iowa today and her role as second-in-command at the state's agriculture department during the closing session.

Early registration for Women in Denim is open and remains $25 per person.
