St. Mary's plans UDMO food drive

The freshmen and sophomore students at St. Mary's School will be hosting a food drive to benefit Upper Des Moines Opportunity on Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 6-7 p.m.

Students will be canvassing the town and working in five different areas of town: St. Mary's, Storm Lake High School , Buena Vista University, South and West Elementary School, Pronto (West Lake/Emerald Park area).

If those community members wishing to participate would leave their porch light on it would be very much appreciated. If you will not be home during the food drive, you may drop off your donations at Central Bank.

High need items include:

- Laundry detergent

- Toothpaste

- Dish soap

- Chunky soup

- Stew

- Tuna

- Canned meat

- Egg noodles

- Canned fruit

- Hamburger Helper

- Ketchup and other condiments

- Kidney beans

- Tomato juice

SLHS Kreative Kitchen to serve meal Thursday

The Storm Lake High School Kreative Kitchen will serve a meal on Thursday.

The Kitchen is under the management of instructor Becky Stille; the cooks are made up of students from the creative foods class.

The meal will be served in the food room at SLHS (Room 18) at 12:10 p.m. Cost for the meals is $5. Please reserve your spot by noon on Tuesday by calling the high school office at 732-8065.

No cancellations after 8 a.m. the day of the meal.

On the menu: Shrimp soup, garlic bread, seven layer salad, rich brownie dessert

Graduates from U of Wisconsin Stout

Menomonie, Wis. - April Graff, Laurens, earned her M.S. in food and nutrtional sciences/human nutrtional science from University of Wisconsin-Stout in August.

UW-Stout, Wisconsin's polytechnic university is a special mission university in the UW System. The university has a long-standing reputation of serving business, industry, education and the helping professions through its specialized educational programs. Enrollment this year is approximately 8,776.
