Carol McCoy, age 69, of Storm Lake, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCoy will be held on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Interment will be in Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home, 1615 West Milwaukee in Storm Lake, where the family will be present for the entire visitation. Wilbur E. "Fuzzy" Baumhover, lifelong Fonda/Varina resident, passed away from liver disease on a beautiful fall day, Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008.
Services for Mr. Baumhover will be held Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina. Reverend Siby Punnoose will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in St. Columbkille Cemetery in Varina. The Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation was held Nov. 5, at Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda. There will be an additional time of visitation at the church for one hour prior to the start of mass.
Fuzzy was born Dec. 24, 1923. He grew up near Carroll. He married Joan Hermsen of Mt. Carmel, in 1945. Fuzzy farmed and raised livestock all of his adult life until he retired. Fuz and Joan enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing bridge with their many friends. Fuz liked woodworking and made wooden toys for the grandchildren and planters for the family. Fuz was a member of Knights of Columbus of Fonda.
Fuz is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan; daughter Pat Baumhover of Cody, Wyo.; daughter Nancy Baumhover and son-in-law Karl Seifert of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter Barb Arneson and son-in-law Ross Arneson of Mankato, Minn.; daughter Janae Baumhover of Boulder, Colo.; son Mark Baumhover of Fonda; brothers Don and Cletus Baumhover; sisters Kathy Kraus and Marilyn Ortner; six grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Fuz was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, one nephew, two nieces, and one son-in-law.

Funeral services for Alice Ekstrom, 97, of Sutherland, formerly of Aurelia, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, with Rev. Leroy Riemer officiating. Burial will be in the Cherokee Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Alice Anna Augusta Iversen was born June 7, 1911, in Charter Oak, the daughter of George and Minnie (Rademaker) Iversen. She attended school in Kearney, Neb., graduating in 1930. On Sept.18, 1937, Alice married Arvid Gustav "Gust" Ekstrom in Sioux Falls, S.D. Alice was a homemaker, and worked as a cook at Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia. She retired in 1972. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, and enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends.
Alice died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland.
Preceding Alice in death were her parents, her husband Gust on Oct. 14, 1966, one son, LaVern Ekstrom, and one sister, Louise Bomberger.
Alice is survived by two sons and their wives, Richard and Colette Ekstrom of Clarkston, Wash., and Marvin and Ada Ekstrom of Darien, Ga. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, David Ekstrom, Barbara Lopez, Michael Ekstrom, Robert Ekstrom, Gary Ekstrom, Arvid Ekstrom, Darrell Ekstrom, Deb Helms, Tanya Gaer, and Daniel Ekstrom, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
