The generous support of individuals and businesses resulted in the Storm Lake Community Chest contributing $25,000 to 18 local organizations Friday. Representatives gathered at King's Pointe to celebrate their hard work and success this year in providing for the community.
Recipients included Buena Vista Regional Medical Center's Diabetes Education, Catholic Charities, Council Against Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault, Court Appointed Special Advocate, Field of Dreams, Food for Life, Genesis Development, Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, Gingerbread House, Lutheran Family Service of Iowa, Lutheran Services in Iowa, Mid-America Council Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, Storm Lake CommUNITY Education, Storm Lake CommUNITY Education Soccer Program, Storm Lake Girls Softball, Storm Lake Whitecaps Swim Team, Upper Des Moines Opportunity.
Charlie Larson, President of Storm Lake Community Chest, expressed his gratitude to the community.
"The continued support of businesses and individuals means so much to the Community Chest. Chad Halder, Treasurer, addressed the recipients.
"You all play a huge role in this community and we want to support you."
Donations, no matter the amount, allow these worthy organizations to better Storm Lake. We are looking forward to another successful campaign in 2009."
