Broadway comes to Cherokee Symphony

The Cherokee Symphony will present its Fall Pops Concert October 26 at 4 p.m. in the Cherokee Community Center. Storm Lake's Lee Thorson conducts the orchestra.

This program will feature singers Mark and Amy Sarchet in a medley of Broadway tunes and in some classic scenes from "South Pacific."

The event includes music from the movie Apollo 13, Fingal's Cave, Sabre Dance and the Olympic Fanfare and Theme. The orchestra will also offer a mix of familiar classical pieces.

This year, concerts move to Sundays, and will all be held at the community center.

Next up will be a Mid-Winter Concert on February 22. Guest artist Jason Deroche will be featured. The Chicago native has been guitar since he was old enough to walk. He has dedicated his life to music as both a performer and an educator.

A Young Artists Concert will end the season on April 19, showcasing area performers selected from auditions to be set earlier. The young artists solo with the backup of the entire orchestra.

Tickets for this weekend's concert are $10, available at the door as seating allows. Season memberships are also available. High school and youngers students get in free.
