The Storm Lake City Council this week approved a resolution for an agreement for services provided by DGR and Associates of Rock Rapids to repaint a 500,000 gallon water tower in West Lake Estates. It will be painted inside and out, and will include the new city logo.

* An ordinance was passed on all three readings to add a stop sign at West First Street and West LakeShore Drive. After the reconstruction of West Lakeshore Drive which included the reconstruction of the intersection of West First St. and West Lakeshore, previously with a yield sign. City officials and The Traffic Safety Committee felt a stop sign would be more adequate at the new T intersection.

*The Council approved a resolution of support to apply for a local government innovation fund. The State of Iowa Finance Commitee and the Department of Management are applying jointly for a Iowa Local Government Innovation Fund grant to produce a new process and system of forms that would allow Cities to submit financial information on a website more efficiently. According to City Clerk Yarosevich the information submitted is required by State law to be made available. When developed Yarosevich says the new system will reduce the amount of time it takes City staff to input the information. The final versions of the documents will also be more easily accessible to citizens. Yarosevich said there would also be training provided to make the system more user friendly.
