SIOUX CITY - A judge has ruled that videotaped testimony of the parents of a Sioux City man accused of killing his stepdaughters will be allowed after prosecutors have reviewed the man's psychiatric evaluation.
Court records say defense attorneys want to use videotaped testimony of John and Sherry Harris talking about psychiatric institutional placements of their son, Lawrence Harris, from 1998 until 2003 in California.
Lawrence Harris is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the Jan. 6 slayings of 10-year-old Kendra Suing and her sister, 8-year-old Alysha Suing.
Court records say Harris told police that he had been performing "some strange ritual" that had gone bad.
Harris' trial is scheduled for Dec. 2. His attorneys indicate they will use an insanity defense.
