Edward "Ed" Strand

Edward "Ed" L. Strand, 64, Alta, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta. Burial was at the Woodlawn Cemetery of Holstein. Visitation will The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein was in charge of the arrangements.
Edward L. Strand was born on Oct. 29, 1943 in Ogden, Utah to Albin and Laura Strand. The family later moved to Lake City. He was baptized in Lake City and confirmed in Des Moines at Trinity Lutheran Church. He later moved to Des Moines where he started working.
Ed met Sylvia Schoon (Strand) in Des Moines and later moved to Adel. On June 15, 1968 they were united in marriage and were blessed with three boys. They moved three more times before ultimately residing in Alta.
Some of his favorite things were enjoying races at Buena Vista Raceway, Nascar Racing, and watching old westerns on television. He loved visiting with family and friends, and if there was activity, he was there!
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Laura Strand; his sister, Donna; and his brother-in-law, Jim Filmer.
He is survived by his wife Sylvia, Alta; his children, Mike and his wife Lori Strand, Sioux Rapids; Dave Strand and Dan Strand, Alta; grandchildren, Cody Strand, Kayla Strand, Kimberlee Strand; two sisters Faye Filmer, Lake City and Gayle and Ernest Ingram, Boone; and many other relatives and friends.
Ed loved and enjoyed life. He lent a helping hand to many people. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
