The Alta United Methodist Church announces its annual Crop Walk fundraiser to be held on Sunday, Oct.18, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the church fellowship hall at 218 Prospect Street in Alta. Baked goods, fresh produce and craft items will be available for purchase.
CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) walks and fundraisers are organized by individuals and faith communities in cities and towns all across the U.S.in order to raise awareness about hunger and give people a way to help both in their own communities and around the world. Up to a quarter of the money donated to CROP Hunger Walk is returned to the community where it was raised to help local soup kitchens and food pantries.CROP is part of the global humanitarian agency Church World Service. Some 2,000 communities will join in hunger walks and fundraisers this year.
The public is cordially invited to participate in the purchase of items available at the Alta United Methodist Church that day.
